Research: Welcome

Research Focus

My research can be categorized into two streams. In the first stream, I examine the effects of sexism, heterosexism, and racism on marginalized populations’ mental health and well-being. In the second stream, I examine personal and contextual-level predictors of discriminatory attitudes and behaviours, among both higher and lower-status group members.

In addition to the research conducted for my theses, I have led various research projects on sexism-related topics. For instance, I have examined when and why men and women oppose abortion. I have also conducted research investigating prejudice against gender non-conforming people, including personal and country-level predictors of opposition toward people with diverse genders and sexualities. Further, I study gender differences in sexual objectification processes and the impact of media (e.g., video games, advertising, pornography) on men's and women's attitudes and behaviours toward women. As part of a broader social justice focus, I have also shaped interventions to mitigate the climate change emergency.

Ultimately, my goal is to understand intergroup relations and use social psychological theories and empirical findings to facilitate interventions that reduce prejudice and discrimination and enhance the well-being of marginalized group members. I am committed to knowledge mobilization related to personal-level interventions and policy change, recognizing individuals' and institutions' roles in maintaining oppressive systems.
